Allowing Taiwan Chinese Tourists Visiting the Island By Individuals
The tourism industry in Taiwan will allow tourists from China visited the island on an individual basis, as home to a new policy announced on Sunday for passengers and People’s Daily Online reports.
The director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, Wang Yi announced that the Asian giant’s mainland and Taiwan start the pilot travel program on June 28. The announcement of this pilot program was presented at a conference in the third cross-Strait Forum, which opened Saturday in Xiamen city.
As for the travel program, the first stage will apply to residents of the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen. The forecasts are optimistic because, according to Roget KC Hsu, secretary general of the Travel Agents Association of Taiwan, said it is possible that travelers to visit Taiwan to allow an annual income of at least 5,500 million NT dollars. On the other hand, analysts point out that Taiwan’s potential visitors will be high-income tourists and young people with willingness to spend money.
As relevant data, the number of tourists from the mainland who traveled to Taiwan reached up to 2.34 million in late May, said Shoo View, head of the National Tourism Administration of China in the Third Forum Straits and reports Xinhua.
